My starting point
I'm 41, a father of three – and in September I was at my highest weight: 118.3 kg, 34 % body fat according to the scale, visceral fat level 17. Visceral fat is the fat around the organs, and that's exactly what I wanted to get rid of.
I told my doctor that things couldn't go on like this. I wanted to change something and above all needed a starting signal. We talked through various options and decided together on Mounjaro. I gave myself the first injection on 15 September – since then I weigh myself every morning on an empty stomach.
What has changed about my eating
I eat much more mindfully. I no longer have cravings, and the constant thinking about food – “food noise” – is completely gone. I simply don't feel like alcohol any more.
I track my calories and aim for around 1,200 kcal a day. One rule applies: protein first, then everything else. My food is pretty simple right now – almost exclusively green beans, cottage cheese and potatoes. Sounds boring, but it works well for me: filling, high in protein, little effort.
Important: 1,200 kcal is my personal target and too little for many people – discuss your calorie needs with your doctor. Eating too little costs muscle – how to avoid that is explained in the guide to keeping muscle.
The numbers – and what they do (not) mean
Minus 6 kg in 11 days sounds spectacular. To be honest, a good part of it at the beginning is water and filled glycogen stores – that's the case with any calorie reduction. The trend over the next weeks is more meaningful. The scale also fluctuates: on 25 Sep it showed more than a kilo more than the day before, without me doing anything differently.
According to the scale, muscle mass has dropped by about 0.8 kg and body fat by just under 3 percentage points. Body composition scales are imprecise and depend heavily on hydration – so I look at the trend, not at individual values.

Side effects and what helps me
To be honest: none at all. No nausea, no constipation, no reflux – so far. But that's not the rule: many people struggle with stomach and bowel problems, especially at the beginning. What helps then is covered in our guides on nausea and constipation.
As a precaution I drink 2.5–3 litres over the day and take magnesium in the evening with plenty of water. That's my personal routine – not a recommendation for you.
The cost question – and my switch
I pay for Mounjaro myself. My first pen cost €206 (in Germany), and it gets more expensive with every dose level. In the long run, that was a real problem for me.
So after the first few weeks I decided on a different route: tirzepatide that is not approved as a medicine but sold as a so-called research peptide. I'm writing this openly because it belongs in an honest report – not as a recommendation. Research peptides are not approved for humans, nobody checks the content, purity or sterility, and mixing and dosing are entirely your own responsibility. I have summarised the risks in the peptide index and under Safety. You will deliberately not find sources or doses here.
Why this site exists
At the beginning I had to read up on a lot: how do you convert mg into units? What is in which study? What is proven, what is marketing? Peptid-Klartext grew out of my own notes and calculators – the site I would have wished for myself at the start.
I update this report regularly. If you are just starting yourself or are in the middle of it: join the community – we share experiences there, honestly and without sales pressure.
This is a personal experience report, not medical advice. Mounjaro is prescription-only – starting, dosing and adjustments belong in a doctor's hands. We advise against using unapproved products. Measurements: standard commercial body composition scale.
