What is semaglutide?
Long-acting GLP-1 analogue. Dampens appetite and “food noise”, slows gastric emptying and improves blood sugar control. As a tablet (Rybelsus) it is one of the few peptides that work orally.
How well studied is semaglutide?
STEP trials: on average about 15% weight loss over 68 weeks. SELECT trial: 20% fewer major cardiovascular events in people with overweight and heart disease.
What are the side effects and risks of semaglutide?
Gastrointestinal complaints, gallbladder problems, rarely pancreatitis. Many people regain weight after stopping.
Is semaglutide approved in Germany?
In short: yes. Germany’s BfArM (Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices) has repeatedly warned about counterfeit Ozempic pens, including ones in German packaging. Only obtain it through a pharmacy and have the securPharm code checked.
