Combines the action of tirzepatide with an additional glucagon signal meant to increase energy expenditure and fat burning – especially in the liver.
How well studied is retatrutide?
Phase 2 (NEJM 2023): up to 24% weight loss after 48 weeks. Phase 3 programme TRIUMPH with up to around 28% weight loss. The manufacturer plans to file for US approval in 2027.
What are the side effects and risks of retatrutide?
Gastrointestinal complaints as with other incretin drugs, slightly increased heart rate. Long-term data are still lacking.
Is retatrutide approved in Germany?
In short: no – still in trials. Not approved anywhere. Anything currently sold as “retatrutide” does not come from the manufacturer – content, amount and purity are unknown.
