What is Ivermectin?

Antiparasitic drug that paralyses the parasites' nerve and muscle cells. Tablets are approved for worm infections (e.g. strongyloidiasis) and – in Germany since 2016 – for scabies; the cream for rosacea.

How well studied is Ivermectin?

Well documented and widely used worldwide for the approved parasitic indications. For COVID-19 available trials show no sufficient benefit; the EMA advises against use outside clinical trials. Claimed effects against cancer or for “detox” are not proven in humans.

What side effects and risks does Ivermectin have?

Headache, muscle pain, dizziness, nausea, diarrhoea, rash. Neurotoxic in overdose: confusion, drowsiness, seizures, coma, low blood pressure, deaths. Veterinary products are highly concentrated and dangerous for humans. Interacts with warfarin; alcohol increases side effects. No specific interaction with GLP-1 drugs known; nausea/diarrhoea may add up.

Is Ivermectin approved in Germany?

In short: yes. As a human medicine in Germany/EU approved only for parasites or rosacea; tablets are prescription-only; no approval for COVID-19, cancer or “longevity”. Not on the WADA Prohibited List. Never take veterinary products. Taking it without a prescription and medical monitoring – e.g. bought from “peptide shops” – is dangerous: unknown quality, no lab checks, no adjustment to blood pressure, kidney values or other medicines.
