What is Gonadorelin?
Gonadorelin is the synthetic form of the body's own hypothalamic hormone GnRH, which prompts the pituitary to release LH and FSH. Medically it has been used to test pituitary function (GnRH test) and – given in pulses via a pump – for hypothalamic hormone deficiency and infertility. In steroid and "peptide" forums it is promoted as an alternative to hCG to stimulate testicular function.
How well studied is Gonadorelin?
Clinically established for decades as a diagnostic agent and in pulsatile therapy. There are no controlled studies for use in a bodybuilding context; the effect depends heavily on how it is given (pulsatile vs. continuous – continuous stimulation can actually suppress the axis).
What side effects and risks does Gonadorelin have?
Possible side effects include injection-site reactions, headache, nausea and hypersensitivity reactions. Uncontrolled use may disrupt rather than stabilise the hormone axis. Material sold as a "research peptide" is not pharmaceutically tested (purity, content, sterility unknown).
Is Gonadorelin approved in Germany?
In short: no – only outside the EU. Human medicines containing gonadorelin are listed mainly outside the EU (e.g. Canada); current availability in Germany is limited/unclear, and in the EU the substance is mainly used as a veterinary medicine. Where available as a medicine it is prescription-only. WADA: S2 (LH releasing factors) – prohibited at all times for male athletes.
