What is Trestolone?
Trestolone is a synthetic, very potent androgen. The Population Council investigated it as a possible hormonal component of male contraception and as a testosterone substitute. It is not converted to DHT.
How well studied is Trestolone?
Only small clinical studies, e.g. a 2003 trial in 35 men on suppressing sperm production with implants. It was never approved, and no current development is apparent.
What side effects and risks does Trestolone have?
Because it deliberately suppresses sperm production, infertility is an expected consequence; the hormone axis is inhibited. Long-term data are lacking. The usual risks of potent androgens (lipids, cardiovascular, polycythaemia, psyche, virilisation in women) must be expected.
Is Trestolone approved in Germany?
In short: no. Not approved as a medicine anywhere. WADA S1 (explicitly listed). Under the German Medicines Act (AMG), unapproved medicines may not be placed on the market; the rules of the Anti-Doping Act also apply (trading prohibited, possession of “non-small quantities” punishable). Black-market products are frequently counterfeit, mislabelled or contaminated.
