What is Tesofensine?
Not a peptide but a drug that inhibits the reuptake of dopamine, noradrenaline and serotonin in the brain. This suppresses appetite; it was originally developed for Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.
How well studied is Tesofensine?
Phase 2 trial TIPO-1: around 10 % weight loss in 24 weeks. A phase 3 trial in Mexico with 372 participants showed similar results. Large long-term studies on cardiovascular safety are lacking.
What side effects and risks does Tesofensine have?
As a centrally acting substance that affects noradrenaline, increases in heart rate and blood pressure, sleep problems, dry mouth and mood or psychiatric effects are to be expected. Long-term cardiovascular safety data are lacking; interactions with antidepressants and other stimulants are possible.
Is Tesofensine approved in Germany?
In short: no. Not approved anywhere: in Mexico the authority COFEPRIS initially rejected the application in 2024, and it was resubmitted in 2025. Per the 2026 WADA list it is prohibited in competition as a stimulant (S6.B). Not legally marketable in Germany; online products are untested.
