What is Pinealon?

Pinealon is a tripeptide of three amino acids (glutamic acid, aspartic acid, arginine), developed in Russia as part of the so-called peptide bioregulators. It is claimed to protect nerve cells from oxidative stress and to influence gene activity directly.

How well studied is Pinealon?

Published work consists mainly of cell and rat studies, mostly from a single Russian research group, suggesting antioxidant and neuroprotective effects. There are no independently confirmed, controlled human studies.

What side effects and risks does Pinealon have?

Reliable data on side effects in humans are missing. The claimed direct effect on genes is not scientifically established. The quality and identity of freely sold products are untested.

Is Pinealon approved in Germany?

In short: no. Not approved as a medicine in the EU or Germany. Not named on the WADA list; as a non-approved substance it falls under S0. Supplying it for human use may breach the Medicines Act (AMG).
