What is ACE-031?
ACE-031 captures myostatin and related signalling molecules before they bind to the muscle receptor. This releases one of muscle's natural growth brakes.
How well studied is ACE-031?
Studied in healthy volunteers and in a randomised, placebo-controlled trial in boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. There were signs of more lean mass and bone density, but without statistical significance; the trial was stopped early.
What side effects and risks does ACE-031 have?
The trial was stopped because of safety signals: nosebleeds and telangiectasias (dilated small blood vessels). Because the drug binds not only myostatin but other signalling molecules too, effects on blood vessels and other tissues are possible. Long-term data are lacking.
Is ACE-031 approved in Germany?
In short: no. Not approved anywhere; clinical development discontinued. WADA: S4.3 (agents preventing activin receptor IIB activation), listed by name, prohibited at all times. Products sold online are untested lab material; with protein drugs there are additional sterility and immune-reaction risks.
